First Semester Meeting for New Admits

A meeting for our new advisees, in the first semester of attendance, to answer any questions about USM you have and to prepare you for the Priority Registration process at USM. Students should prepare for this meeting by creating a Wish List of courses! Please choose this if you would like to meet about **Summer & Fall 2024** registration. These meetings will begin **after March 4th.** **Be sure to have your wishlist/shopping cart ready for approval.**

Continuing Students at First Year or Sophomore Standing

Priority Registration meetings are to review classes for the upcoming academic semester/session. Students should prepare a wish list and come to the meeting with ideas on what classes they'd like to take or questions about their plan. Remember-I advise, you decide! These meetings typically occur from mid-October to the end of November or from mid-March to the end of April. Students with 53 or less completed credits, undeclared, or Conditionally Admitted students meet with their academic advisor for this appointment. **Students with 54 or more credits meet with their *faculty advisor* for this appointment. Contact your major department directly or check your MaineStreet Student center if you are unsure of your faculty advisor.**

General Meeting

This is a meeting with your assigned professional advisor to discuss quick questions, change of major or minor, prior approval forms, study abroad applications or strategize about study skills. *Not available during the Priority Registration period.*

Academic Development

Students who are on academic notice or probation are automatically put on an Academic Development Plan. Students are expected to schedule and keep 3 - 4 meetings per semester with their Academic Advisor. We have many resources as well as study strategies and opportunities available to enhance your academic success throughout your time here at USM. We are here to help!
